Celine Smith

Celine from The Solvents performance collective is a maker, performer, player, director, dancer, writer, land-artist. She just graduated from Dartington College of Arts (MA Devised Theatre). She transforms into animals and characters and 'Butoh' dances her way into different dimensions. You might see her wearing a cat tail, a pig head or laying easter eggs - depending on the circumstances.

She likes to play at living and to surf emotions. She devises all kind of ways to turn the world into a playground, where our inner fantasy is made visible to the light of day. Playground projects include the creation of a performance party, where spectators are invited to dress up as children and discover the fantasy world of a house (Inside Out Project) / In collaboration with Mitsu Salmon - she plays at copying people / with Birgit Binder - she plays at turning the streets of Glasgow into a playground...

'The adventures of the Mud Bra Girl' — Celine lived Glastonbury 07 like an improvisation. She stayed 10 days, transformed into the mud bra girl who had 5 lovers, mutated into a fairy, learnt about treasure hunting and got into trouble... Read the beginning of her new 'jour-n-ovel' here!
